Tumira

Privacy Policy

Effective 10 October 2026 · Applies to Tumira for Android and iOS

In short

Who we are

Tumira is developed by Tendai Karuma (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy or your data, contact us at protendai@gmail.com.

What Tumira does with your information

Files you send and receive

When you send a file, Tumira transfers it straight to the device you choose. When someone sends you a file, you see a request first and choose whether to accept it (unless you switch on Quick Save, or mark the sender as a trusted device). Accepted files are saved on your device: in Downloads/Tumira on Android, and in Files › On My iPhone › Tumira on iOS. We never receive, see or store your files.

What nearby devices can see

While Tumira is open, it lets other Tumira devices on the same network (or on a direct link you set up by scanning a code) find yours. They can see:

When you send files, the receiving device also sees the file names, types and sizes before deciding whether to accept them. Nothing is shared with devices outside your local network or direct link.

Information stored on your device

This information never leaves your device. You can clear transfer history in the History tab, remove trusted devices in Settings, and delete received files from the Tumira folder. Uninstalling Tumira removes its stored information (received files saved to Downloads or the Files app stay there until you delete them).

Your music and video library

If you allow it, Tumira's Library shows the music and videos already on your device so you can play them. Tumira only reads these files to play them. It does not upload, copy or share them unless you choose to send a file.

Permissions

Tumira only asks for what it needs. You can turn any of these off in your device settings; the related feature will then stop working, but the rest of the app will keep working.

PermissionWhy Tumira needs it
Nearby devices / Local networkTo find other Tumira devices nearby and send or receive files with them. On Android this permission is declared as “never used for location”.
Wi-Fi state and changesTo create or join a direct phone-to-phone link when you pair by code, so transfers work without a router.
Camera (iOS)To scan the other phone's pairing code. Images from the camera are not saved or shared. On Android, codes are scanned by a Google Play services scanner that does not give Tumira camera access.
Music and audio / Apple Music libraryTo show and play the music on your device in Tumira's Library.
Videos / Photos libraryTo show and play the videos on your device in Tumira's Library.
Hotspot configuration (iOS)To join an Android phone's direct link after you scan its code. iOS asks you before joining.
Background audio / media playbackTo keep music playing when you leave the app or lock your screen, with controls on the lock screen.
Location (older Android only)Android 12 and earlier require location access to use Wi-Fi Direct. Tumira never reads or stores your location. On Android 13 and later this permission is not used.

When you pick files or photos to send, your device's own picker gives Tumira access only to the items you select.

What we do not do

Security

Transfers happen only between devices on your local network or on a direct link you set up. You can require a PIN for incoming transfers in Settings, and every transfer from an untrusted device needs your approval unless you switch on Quick Save. Because transfers on a local network are not encrypted end to end, use Tumira on networks you trust.

Children

Tumira does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Tumira handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be described in the app's release notes.
